Singer-songwriter duo The Torrents of Sping zijn geen onbekende bij de Vrijplaats. Eerder stonden ze hier als opener van het ipsYlon festival. Eind vorig jaar zijn ze de thuisstudio van bevriend muzikant Jeroen Keereweer ingedoken om hun eerste EP op te nemen. Het resultaat: zeven verstilde akoestische nummers die folk, country en jazz invloeden verraden en die door zanger/gitarist Eelco Slierendrecht omschreven worden als Cosmic Blues.
Hij en Matthijs Koevoet (percussie/harmonies) ontmoette elkaar bij de maandelijkse jamsessies in de Bar&Boos en elkaar later vonden in een verlangen om “echte” liedjes te spelen en die als basis voor hun jams te gebruiken.
Deze avond zullen The Torrents of Spring hun Man-Made Cave EP presenteren en live ten gehoren brengen.

Singer-songwriter duo The Torrents of Spring are a familiar sight to the Vrijplaats. They were the opening act to the ipsYlon festival back in November 2012. Last year befriended musician Jeroen Keereweer was approached to serve as producer for their debut EP which they were to record at his home studio. The end result: seven serene acoustic songs that betray folk, country and jazz influences and are described by singer/guitarist Eelco Slierendrecht as Cosmic Blues.
He and Matthijs Koevoet (percussion/harmonies) first met at the monthly Bar&Boos jamsessions, they later found each other in the desire to write and perform “real” songs and to use those as a basis for future jams.
The Torrents of Spring will present and perform their Man-Made Cave EP at the Vrijplaats this night.
