Michael de Jong is a Dutch singer-songwriter and bluesman who was born in 1945 and moved to the US at an early age. Here’s where his musical career took off, sharing the stage and studio with ao Jerry Garcia, Paul Butterfield, Albert Collins, John Lee Hooker, Charlie Musselwhite, Albert King and Jimmy Reed, until the time of his death. He then went on to write and record his own songs. He released his first album in 1981. A few years later he left the US and after traversing Europe settled down in The Netherlands where the second stage of his musical life would start. As an acoustic singer-songwriter he had released 17 albums since 1993 (most of which can be downloaded for free at his website). The blues is ever present but the lyrics have become increasingly important. This is why Michael now only plays “seated shows” where the audience can truly listen to his words and music. This will be a special benefit concert he does for the Vrijplaats, all proceeds will go directly to the development and rebuilding of this venue.

Because Leiden is a university town and Michael would love to play to students there is a special student/CJP rate!
